CPC has three ministries for children from grades 3 – 12. These groups gather for fellowship, retreats, mission, music and games. The groups are led by a pastor and parent volunteers and meet on a regular basis, depending on the age group, throughout the academic year.

  • Lord’s Little People – Grades 3-5. Meetings vary but are held on Sundays 6:00-7:30 p.m.
  • Rising Stars – Grades 6-8. Meetings vary but are held on Sundays 6:00-7:30 p.m.
  • Crossroads – Grades 9-12. Meets Sundays 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Crossroads Room (unless otherwise noted)

The focus of the youth groups is fellowship and mission. Past activities involve monthly dinners and pizza parties, bowling, game nights, snow tubing, retreats and mission trips. Youth participate in Presbytery retreats and youth rallies in order to reinforce that as youth, they are not alone as followers of Jesus. For the older youth (Crossroads), discussions and workshops are held providing an open and honest place to talk about sex, drugs and alcohol abuse, and relationships. These classes are held in conjunction with parents taking a parallel class encouraging open communication later at home.

The mission component of the youth group program energizes the youth. The youth work throughout the year at soup kitchens, cook casseroles for the Cold Weather Shelter, assemble care packages for troops overseas, participate in the CROP walk for hunger, serve lunch to the congregation on SouperBowl Sunday to raise funds to fight hunger, spend time at homeless shelters with the residents, and run clothing and toy drives.

The Crossroads youth work throughout the year raising funds for a week-long summer mission trip. They work together to hold car washes, sell tee-shirts and gourmet lollypops, babysit, and perform yard work. As a result, their trips have sent them to serve in places such as Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and West Virginia. They return home profoundly changed and energized, and share their enthusiasm by leading worship and sharing their experiences with the congregation.

Why Youth Group is important to our youth

Youth group is a fun fellowship time and a good way to get to know other kids my own age. I feel like I am welcomed in church and that I am part of what goes on there and that I can always count on my church friends to be there for me.” - Ellen

I've also enjoyed the mission trips and youth retreats. They were awesome outreach experiences where we got to put our faith into action outside our church home.” -Emily
